We enjoyed spotting fourth grade teacher Kate Narita, author of Mathical Honor Book 100 Bugs! A Counting Book, as she explores more than a dozen Mathical titles as part of her summer reading practice.
You can find Kate’s blog post on her website. In her opening video, she explains how she will use several Mathical titles in her classroom next year!
We also enjoyed reading Kate’s students’ review of Nothing Stopped Sophie: The Story of Unshakable Mathematician Sophie Germain. Her fourth graders put the title on their class’s short list for the Sibert Medal, awarded annually to the most distinguished informational book for children by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association.
We enjoyed these students’ reflections on Sophie’s perseverance — and we hope you do, too!
