MSRI and School Library Journal Announce Winning Schools in 2020 Mathical Book Prize Collection Development Awards
25 Title I school libraries to receive grants to purchase $700 in Mathical Prize-winning books
New York, NY – April 27, 2020 – Winners of the Mathical Book Prize Collection Development Awards were announced today. Twenty-five libraries in K–12 Title I schools have been selected in the inaugural Awards, presented by Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) in partnership with School Library Journal (SLJ), with each to receive grants of $700 to purchase titles from the Mathical Book Prize list.
The winning school libraries represent 18 states and were chosen by SLJ from a pool of 84 applicants from elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide. Selection was based on school library staff who demonstrated the greatest promise in using funds to advance the goals of their library, and their enthusiasm for encouraging students to explore a love of mathematics in their everyday lives.
